Every build below started as a real world problem a student wanted to solve. Several are now in the process of being filed for patents.
Everything from here on is a student's own work: competitions won, machines built, research carried out.
Rakshathra S L, a Class 5 student of MMS from Krishnagiri, took up kickboxing in 2019. Competing for Tamil Nadu under the Krishnagiri District Amateur Kickboxing Association (KDAKA) and the Tamil Nadu State Amateur Kickboxing Association (TNSAKA), she has since medalled at every level the sport offers: district, state, national, international and, in October 2025, at the Uzbekistan Kickboxing World Cup in Tashkent.
At the National WAKO Kickboxing Championship in Chennai, Rakshathra won gold in Point Fight and silver in her forms division, her third national-level medal, a hat-trick her district association wrote up in the press: 193 athletes from across Tamil Nadu took part, competing for 155 medals in all. Weeks later, she flew out with Team India to Tashkent and returned a Kickboxing World Cup gold medallist, one of the youngest athletes in her contingent to do so.
Liberating Creativity: when a child learns inside a stress free, joyful environment, that freedom doesn't just protect their creativity, it focuses it.Rakshathra's own proof: a Spot Painting medal at National Science Day 2025 and a kickboxing World Cup gold, earned inside the very same classrooms.
Rakshathra was selected for the 14th National Kickboxing High-Performance Training Camp 2026, organised by the Tamil Nadu State Amateur Kickboxing Association (TNSKA) with WAKO India and the Sports Development Authority of Tamil Nadu (SDAT). Held for the third time in Tamil Nadu, the 9-day camp brought together over 300 of India's elite athletes, coaches and officials for final preparation ahead of the WAKO World Youth Kickboxing Championship 2026 (Italy), the Uzbekistan World Cup 2026 and the Asian Kickboxing Championship 2026.

An AI for learning build: a walking, camera equipped robot chassis dressed and assembled entirely by students, combining mechanical design with embedded electronics.
AI for Learning
What began as a simple sensor driven robot evolved into a full scale autopilot car, built and reviewed on campus.

The proof of concept: sensor based navigation logic that became the foundation for the autopilot car.

A scale model reviewed and refined by students, hands on, before the full size build began.

Wiring, sensors, and control systems assembled at the CoE by students, end to end.

The finished autopilot car, presented and reviewed on campus, and later presented at the CBSE Regional Science Expo, 2025.
A sensory tech build that pairs visuals with scent output, presented and demonstrated by students to visiting guests.
A fully functioning, student designed and built electronic voting machine, used by MMS for school council elections (Head Boy, Head Girl and Sports Secretary), built to teach both the electronics and the civic process behind a real election.

Two full build cycles, from a bare wooden frame to a solar panelled, road tested electric vehicle.

Steel chassis, steering and wiring assembled by hand at the CoE.

The v1.0 prototype, road tested on the school football field.

A refined v2.0 build with a rooftop solar panel and improved drivetrain, presented at Alliance University, NOVA Fest 2025.
A student designed and built planetarium model integrating astronomy, physics, mathematics, electronics and design. First developed and presented at an inter school exhibition in 2017, then rebuilt and refined in 2018 and 2019 by students of Classes 7 and 10.

A working hydrogen fuel cell model demonstrating clean energy principles and electrochemical energy conversion, guided by senior students with participation from lower grades.
Clean Energy
A fuel efficiency enhancement prototype for a four stroke carburettor engine, using vapourised petrol input to improve combustion efficiency and mileage.

A Li-Fi based communication system for road safety applications. Qualified at the CBSE Regional Science Expo, Chennai (2019 and 2023), presented at the CBSE National Science Expo, New Delhi, and shown again at the CBSE Science Expo 2024. See the full 2024 write-up below.
Student-built projects presented at the CBSE Science Expo 2024.
Problem Statement: Highway U-turns are high-risk zones, with inadequate night visibility and delayed driver warnings leading to frequent, preventable accidents.
Working Principle: LED signal posts along highways transmit real-time alerts to in-car systems, providing drivers with timely audio and visual warnings about hazards, enhancing safety, and offering high-speed connectivity for passengers.
Benefits:

Statement of the Problem: In a circular garden, the government has brought a minor segment which borders the actual garden, at the centre of the radius of the garden. What will be the length of such a border?
Rationale: To develop a general formula for finding the length of any chord passing through the centre of the radius.
Principles: Pythagoras' theorem.
Description: This project aims to find the length of any chord which passes through the centre of the radius. The proof exclusively involves application of Pythagoras' theorem: using the radius of the circle and Pythagoras' theorem, a proof was formulated for finding the length of the chord.

Mathematical Proof
Given: r is the radius of the circle, C is the chord length. Let h = r⁄2, with C perpendicular to r.
To find: The chord length C.
Construction: Construct a circle with h as the radius on the chord. Join P and F. With F as the centre and FB as the radius, construct a circle; do the same with E as the centre and AE as the radius.
The length of any chord passing through the centre of the radius is r + r⁄√2.

MMS students Deepan, Smuktha, Likitha and Vaishnav represented the school at the SAE India Bengaluru Chapter round of the AWIM (A World In Motion) Olympics, and went on to win at the AWIM Nationals held in Pune, 2018, as part of the school's ongoing industry engagement with SAE India and TVS Motor Company.
National Award
MMS students have won prizes across categories at National Science Day, held annually at U R Rao Satellite Centre (URSC), ISRO.
Ten MMS students from Grades 4 to 10 represented the school at ISRO's Aryabhata Golden Jubilee Celebration, competing in the ISRO Quiz, Pick and Speak, and Science Model Making events, and hearing talks from ISRO scientists including Mr. A. S. Kiran Kumar (former ISRO Chairman) and Dr. T. K. Alex (Indian Space Commission).
| Student Name | Event | Prize |
|---|---|---|
| Lohith N | ISRO Quiz | 2nd Prize |
| Vaishnavi J | Pick and Speak | 2nd Prize |
| Annanya | Pick and Speak | 3rd Prize |
Out of six prizes awarded across the event, MMS students won three. See the ISRO Space Tutor page for the full event write up.
