Business studies, accountancy, economics and commercial applications across the curriculum.
On 2 November 2022, Commerce teachers Mrs. Vadivambigai and Ms. Muthupriya S. took 30 students of Class XI and XII Commerce to Del Monte, an integrated food solutions company at Kalukondapalli producing fruit drinks, packaged fruits, ketchups, sauces and a range of Italian products through modern food processing technology. Mr. Satheesh of Del Monte's HR department provided technical support for the visit.
The visit was designed to bring classroom Business Studies and Economics to life on a real manufacturing floor, giving students first hand exposure to the Principles of Management, Production Function, Producers’ Equilibrium and Price Determination. Students toured the food processing units, observed management at work, interacted with staff across the organisation, and discussed career opportunities and workplace health and safety.
Back in the classroom, students connected what they saw to management theory — debating the principles developed by Fayol and comparing his contributions with Taylor’s Scientific Management — and to economic theory, analysing how price is determined in a competitive market and how shifts in demand and supply affect price and output.
