Keeping in view the mission statement of the school , various activities have been designed and implemented for facilitating quality education which brings in all round growth and development of intellectual pursuits of the students , and thereby their personality. Accordingly, the infrastructure of the school comprises the following:

Our classrooms are child-friendly in every aspect. Each classroom measures a minimum of 1200 square feet with wide verandahs, ample space to move around, child friendly furniture, community-classroom properties like learning materials and stationery and Green effects. Each class is well organized with niches for library, workstation, displays and storage.

The maximum number of students for any class is 30. The overall teacher-student ratio is 1:10.

The average space per student is an impressive 3 square meters.

There is a WiFi-enabled computer for every 2 students in each classroom.

The differentiating feature of our classrooms is the way they are oriented. Our classrooms are organized based on subject and not by student population.

This means that there is a different, distinct, classroom each, for Chemistry, Physics, English, Math, Botany, Zoology, Arts, Dance, Music etc. Students assemble at their respective theme building as per their class schedules.

The ambience in these classrooms reinforces the focus and richness of the corresponding subject theme.

To accommodate the needs of the 21st century learner, state-of-the-art wired & wireless communications, computers, security surveillance and server infrastructure are installed.

These are periodically reviewed and enhanced for currency in communication, processing and surveillance tools in the ever-evolving world of technology.

The backbone of our communication infrastructure is an Optic Fiber Cable that carpets the campus thereby enabling enhanced internet connectivity and classroom learning. This is done in a manner that complements technology and education seamlessly.

Our Learning Centers fully utilize best-of-breed technology tools, both hardware and software for an enriching learning experience.

Importance is given in equal measure for academic and physical activity. Our children are actively encouraged and guided to excel in both.

We have ample evidence to emphasize that physical activity and physical education only help improve academic performance.

Our focus on imparting the best possible physical education to our students through a variety of sports is substantiated by our sports facilities within the campus.

Water shortage is a main concern for us at RICE-MMS. Sustainable management in the form of limited and timed water supply within the campus and monitored and restricted usage is in force. We buy the bulk of our water requirement from outside to make good of the shortage.

Work is underway to make the campus sustainable energy wise. Primary focus is always given on effective utilisation of electrical and electronic items to bring down the unit usage of electricity tariff and UPS (24/7) from servers and other electronic equipment. Solar energy is in effective use and there is concrete planning in place to make maximum use of this source of energy.

Dairy Farm

We have 15 cattle, of which 6 are milching. Residential students and staff are provided organic milk from this farm. At present, the cows yield about 24,136.75 liters of milk a year. The cow dung is utilized as organic manure for agriculture. During vacation time, the milk is sold in the open market to generate funds for the school.

Organic Farm

More than 11 acres of our campus land are available for agriculture and gardening. We practice organic farming and the children are provided practical education in cultivating vegetables in the same way. The vegetables cultivated from this farm land are supplied to students dining hall and staff canteen. The cow dung from our cattle farm along with the kitchen waste and the weeds are being used to produce the organic manure which is being used in the arable field. Work is under way to include more land for our organic farming and also to improvise the process.

Poultry Farm

Poultry have been on the earth for over 150 million years, dating back to the original wild jungle fowl. Now we include ducks, geese, turkeys, pheasants, pigeons, peafowl, guinea fowl and chickens in the list of species under the general term poultry. Poultry provide humans with companionship, food and fiber in the form of eggs, meat and feathers. At the RICE-MMS poultry farm, we rear country chicken for their meat and eggs. Poultry products are considered to be a healthy alternative. As they can be reared easily, RICE-MMS has renewed interest in poultry farming. We invest only in home-based feeding. Medicines or injections are never used.

Mathakondapalli Model School Dormitory

At a glance

Mathakondapalli Model School provides comfortable living facilities for boys and girls separately in the Rural Institute for Community Education – Mathakondapalli Model School (RICE – MMS) dormitory campus. The dormitory can accommodate up to 500 children. At present, more than 300 boys and girls reside in the dorms. Life for children here is simple, yet full of opportunities for community living which helps them develop their independent individual spirits.

Another practice here is the `para hostel’ system, in which day scholars are permitted to live in the dorm for a few days or up to a week. The school provides residential programs for them with a view to promote the integrated development of body and mind, together with interpersonal skills. In the residential setup, the institution provides maximum possible space and resources, to shape the character of students in a manner that inculcates and enriches every aspect of their personalities and behavior, both individual and social.

Each dormitory has seven large halls, each hall is attached with 6 bathrooms and 5 toilets along with sufficient number of fans and lights. Each hall measures about 1877sqft and every child gets 47 sqft; the ratio of bathroom usage is 5:1, and toilets, 6:1. In addition, the dorm has 22 bathrooms and 12 toilets in the lawn area for common use. Children are provided beddings on bunk cots with mattresses.

Health care:

A primary medical facility is available for the residents in the medical clinic situated at the center of the girls and boys dormitories. Regular medical check-up for children is conducted by an experienced health nurse. Children with minor ailments are treated in-house at the school health clinic. In case of severe illness, children are taken to the nearby hospital and parents are informed immediately.

If the child has low Hb, he/she will receive special care from the resident health nurse. Growth monitoring is each month to register the physical growth of every child.

Nutritious food with the right calories:

Nutrition value of food is the primary consideration while catering to children’s taste. Fruits and milk are an integral of the meal as a rich supplement to the daily diet. The food menu chart is prepared by the health nurse and the house parents, involving the children as well. They take into account the calorie value of each food item, finally getting the approval from the Principal. The children are served hot, fresh, healthy, and nutritious food. Moreover children are also advised and encouraged to consume food items which are served with calorie value in proportion.

Personal Accompaniment:

We have both full time, and part-time house parents. House parents are there in the hostel for both boys and girls in order to guide and accompany the children. All the duties are divided among house parents, so that the physical and psychological growth of children is monitored efficiently. Individual profile of each child is maintained by house parents helps them monitor the growth and development of each child.

Regular interaction and relationship with parents and guardians help the house parents understand the academic and behavioral expectations of their children. It is worthy of mention that this institution also provides parental education to guide parents monitor, both the academic, and behavioral development of their wards.
